Day 3: The Worst is Behind Me (I hope)

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

Symptoms

  • Pinprick feeling in my eyes is still there but less pronounced that the day before

  • Some significant tearing, but less than the day before.

  • Vision remains quite blurry. Still can't read my phone very well.

  • Pain pills make me want to sleep all the time.

I woke up on Saturday morning, three days after my Wednesday procedure, feeling OK. I stood up from bed and very hesitantly opened my eyes ready for a rush of pain and tears, and besides some tearing and a little soreness, I actually felt OK. My vision was still pretty terrible, but I could keep my eyes open for longer stretches.

My vision was still blurry, but was clear enough that I could get around and function on my own. Before surgery, I was pretty helpless without my glasses and I was certainly seeing much better than that. Looking at my phone or the computer was still hard, even with the font size really high as the light from the screens was really hard to look at. I'd turn the brightness down to almost zero so I could actually look at it, but then it would be so dark that it would be hard to read. Also, watching TV would give me a headache from the changing light and fast motion. I would suggest lowering the brightness on your TV before getting PRK. You family members might bemoan the picture quality, but you'll actually be able to look at it.

By the end of the day I was starting to feel a lot better about my recovery and was hopeful that Sunday would be another day of solid progress.
